San Juan Car Company, Inc.

Manufacturers of Fine Narrow Gauge Equipment

History

Founded in 1987, San Juan Car Company (SJCC) produces superbly detailed, fine running O scale standard and narrow gauge freight car kits, Ready-To-Run cars, track, and detail accessories for the discerning modeler. Our kits are manufactured in Durango, Colorado USA, using state-of-the-art production equipment and the finest tooling available. Our RTR cars, among the best available anywhere, are manufactured offshore. We work almost exclusively in On3 and On30 because we feel that it offers the best compromise between high levels of detail and modelling practicality.

SJCC was originally established by John Parker, working closely with Joel Berling and later Bob Fingerle (of American Limited). Parker, a lifetime narrow gauge steam enthusiast, ran parts as a teenager for the legendary Cliff Grandt, of Grandt Line, when the use of injection-molded styrene for model train parts was in its infancy. Although San Juan Car began in Union City, California, it later moved to Durango, Colorado, the home of historical narrow gauge steam, and a place dear to John Parker’s heart since he made his first pilgrimage to the Durango and Silverton railroad in his teens.

Experience

SJCC is owned and directed by Douglas Junda.  Doug have been involved with the Model Railroad industry for many years.  Doug are also modelers,  S Scale, Sn3 and Sn2.

Attention to Detail

Since its inception, SJCC has developed a reputation for producing kits that are true to the prototype, with unfaltering attention to accurate scaling and detailing. With the overwhelming success of the kits, and the change in demand in the On3 market, the company has created a successful line of Ready-to-Run cars. In recent years, we have been encouraging more enthusiasts to model in On3 by offering quality trackside products such as flex track, switches, couplers and detail parts.
