Regarding use with DCC, we got this e-mail:

Dear John,
I promised to get back to you after we had a chance to review the performance of the turnouts on the new On3 layout. Our conclusion is that the the turnouts may be used exactly as they come out of the wrap in a DCC mode. In fact, during testing, power was transmitted from one loop to an inside loop, powering only the outside loop for example, through the turnouts of a crossover! Of course, typically I will definitely power the layout in a number of places including the inside AND outside loops.
I would feel comfortable advertising that your turnouts are satisfactory for operation in DCC configurations, directly as they come out of the bubble. There are some additional comments that we would make.
The approach by Bill Lund, using the short wires between the stock and point rail (p.7) insures a better connection than relying on the points as I am suggesting. And to use these connectors, it is only necessary to cut through the brass connectors between the points. Doing this carefully (it may only be necessary to cut the top one) precludes replacing the existing connector. This can be done with a Dremel tool and a circular cutter The process of connecting the points with a modified PC board material is not required, is unnecessarily complicated, and not too healthy.
Congratulations on a great switch. The under-track hard wiring on the rails after the frog and the frog itself result in excellent continuity. Regards, to your designer.
