Banded Peak Ranch oilfield owner William "Gramps" Hughes had his name painted on the narrow gauge tank cars of the Union Tank Car Company (UTLX) to please his grandchildren. In the fifties, these cars were loaded at Chama, NM and transported to the refinery in Alamosa, CO.
